Wiki Foods, Boston – 4500 s.f. Epoxy Floor
The Facilities Managers at Wiki Foods in Boston were looking for an epoxy floor system that would cure in low temperatures and high humidity environments. Wiki Foods is a manufacturer of non-dairy frozen ice cream and it was essential for production to continue while the floor was being put down. Our solution was to build a containment area for production and along with our dustless grinding process, we were able to finish the epoxy floor on time and without complaint.
This particular project involved the preparation of 4500 square feet of concrete floor using a combination of diamond grinding/ shot blasting methods. After our initial consultation with the manages at Wiki Foods we provided them with a moisture reading which showed that the floor had 89% Relative Humidity. With High relative humidity, we used a special breathable and moisture tolerant coating to ensure the floor would bond correctly to the existing slab. Wiki foods also wanted to have a seamless floor from the walls so we were able to install a 5′ inch cove base around the perimeter of the floor. In addition to the cove base wiki foods also needed a 70 ft berm to divide the production area in half which we built using mortared bricks and coating it with an epoxy/ silica mix.
The result was a beautiful and seamless epoxy floor with cove base and 70-foot berm. The facilities managers at Wiki Foods were so impressed that they wanted to schedule us to come back and finish the remaining concrete with epoxy. We are proud to be able to provide seamless epoxy floors that meet the high standard of our Food Service and Pharmaceutical customers.
