Tufts Medical Epoxy Floor Boston, MA

The facilities managers at Tufts Medical Building wanted to apply an epoxy mastic over their existing 10,500 SF basement floor. The concrete was worn down from many years of use, the basement housed the hospitals heating units and special medical equipment with a full-time staff to monitor the machines. They wanted to have the floors done with epoxy to provide a clean and sanitary environment that was easy to clean. Another important part of the job was that they wanted the cracks and spalls to be filled in so that carts and fork trucks could seamlessly maneuver the area.

For the floor, we used a High-Performance two-part Epoxy Mastic. We used a combination of both diamond grinding the floor and shot blasting to get the desired profile for our epoxy to adhere to. We also needed to prepare the floor in a way that allowed the staff to operate the machinery but still have the project done in a timely fashion. We were able to add accelerator into the epoxy which makes it cure faster, also allowing the staff to be able to walk over it after a few short hours.

In the end, we were able to exceed the expectations of the staff at Tufts Medical, providing them with a functional floor that was easy to clean, stain resistant, and crack/ spall free.

Our Painting Division was also able to paint structural piping and machinery with a great finish allowing it to be functional and rust-free for years to come.
